The InviTrap® Spin Tissue RNA Mini Kit simplifies total RNA purification from a variety of tissue types (e.g. muscle, liver, heart, brain, lung, kidney) and FFPE tissue samples. The genomic DNA is removed without an enzymatic digestion step. RNases are inactivated to prevent RNA degradation.

The InviTrap Spin Tissue RNA Mini Kit uses a specially designed lysis buffer and zirconia beads to homogenize and lyse the tissue sample. The carrier material shears high molecular components and reduces the viscosity during lysis. The genomic DNA is fixed at the surface of mineral carrier particles provided within the Lysis Solution. The matrix loaded with the genomic DNA is removed by a centrifugation step. The RNA remains in the supernatant and is mixed with ethanol and transferred to the RNA binding membrane. The RNA binds to the Spin Filter, contaminants are washed away, and the pure RNA is eluted in RNase-free water. The isolated total RNA is ready-to-use for subsequent downstream applications:

1. Agilent Bioanalyzer analysis using high quality RNA
Total RNA was isolated from about 20 mg placenta tissue using the InviTrap Spin Tissue RNA Mini Kit and eluted in 35 µl Elution Buffer. The yielded total RNA was analyzed in an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer.

2. RNA isolation from different tissue material
Total RNA was isolated from 20 mg kidney and colon tissue using the InviTrap Spin Tissue RNA Mini Kit and the provided Zirconia Beads and a commercial kit from competitor Q. Total RNA was eluted in 50 µl elution buffer. 3 µl of the eluates were analyzed on a 1.2 % agarose gel.
