1. Isolation and detection of BVD-Virus from plasma pools
DNA was isolated from 150 µl EDTA blood on the KingFisher mL using the InviMag Blood DNA Mini Kit/ KFmL. 2 µl of the eluted DNA (1/50) were used in a qualitative PCR (figure A) on a LightCycler. Figure B shows the first derivation of the melting curve of the amplified product. If the melting curve shows two maxima a DPD mutation is detected.

2. High DNA purity and rate of recovery
DNA was isolated from 200 μl liquor using the InviMag Blood DNA Mini Kit/ KFmL and a competitor kit. The isolated DNA samples were analyzed using an in-house Globin PCR method. The test was performed on a LightCycler instrument, version 1.0. The DNA isolated from liquor with the competitor kit shows no amplification product (blue).
