1. Detection of Salmonella infections
BPW-media was inoculated with 50 cells of Salmonella typhimurium and cultivated. A defined dilution series was prepared from 1 ml overnight culture and DNA was isolated using the InviMag Bacteria DNA Mini Kit/ KFmL on KingFisher mL. 5 µl of the eluated DNA were used for the detection of Salmonella typhimurim by RT-PCR using the SureFood Pathogen Salmonella Plus V Kit from Congen Biotechnologie GmbH.
Data kindly provided from I. Wiemann, Congen Biotechnologie GmbH.
2. Detection of Mycobacteria tuberculosis infections from human sputum samples
Isolation of bacterial DNA from 100 µl of a two weeks old bacterial culture which was infected by patient samples (clinical samples: sputum, bronchial lavage). 5 µl of the eluated DNA were used for the detection of Mycobacteria tuberculosis complex or direct of Mycobacteria tuberculosis by real-time application (16s - RNA fragment) on a LightCycler.
